- You are taken to the collection room for the donation itself. (8-10 minutes for whole blood, 15-30 minutes for plasma or platelets)
Our FAQs -
Plasma donations can be made at the Red Cross Blood Transfusion Centre in Luxembourg City by making an appointment on Doctena.
As with blood donations, you will be interviewed by a doctor at the time of your first donation. You will then need to allow a little more time for the sample to be taken, approximately 2 hours. During the donation, we draw your blood and separate the plasma from the other components (white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets). The other blood components are returned to you.

We advise you to eat before coming to donate blood. In any case, no need to come on an empty stomach! Come properly hydrated: plasma contains a lot of water… by donating your blood, you make your body thirsty… This is also a good reason to stay a few minutes after the collection and enjoy the drinks and snacks offered to you.
