RESTRICTIONS FOR DONATING AND TRAVEL REGULATIONS

What could prevent you from donating blood?

Donating blood is a generous and selfless act. The teams at the Blood Transfusion Center take particular care to ensure that this gesture is safe, both for the donor and for the recipient. This is why, in a number of cases, it is unfortunately not possible to carry out the collection.

Please note: If you have lived in the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Isle of Man) between 1980 and 1996 for more than 12 months, or have received a blood transfusion, or had surgery in the United Kingdom after 1st January 1980, please be aware that the international donor selection criteria do not currently allow the Blood Transfusion Centre to accept you as a blood donor.

RESTRICTIONS OF DONATING DUE TO TRAVEL

If you have stayed from June 1 to November 30 in certain regions or countries in and outside Europe, there may be a risk of transmission of the West-Nile-Virus. Blood donations are still accepted but must be subjected to additional tests up to 28 days after the donor’s return.
